Amy grew up in Kansas City, Kansas. After graduating from high school at Sumner Academy of Arts & Sciences, she attended Kansas State University. She graduated from Kansas State University with a bachelor of arts degree in modern languages and a minor in sociology. While in college, she spent a summer in Mexico attending school and interned briefly at a law firm. After graduating from K-State, she attended Washburn School of Law, where she received the Irvine E. Ungerman Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice for the work she did in the legal clinic at the school.
Amy was lucky enough to work alongside, and take over, the practice of a well respected Paola, Kansas attorney, Lynn Martin, upon his retirement in 2003. Amy is a solo practitioner, located on the quaint town square in Paola, Kansas. She has been an active member of the Miami County Bar Association, having served as president for approximately five years. She is also very involved in the community, and has served on many committees and boards, including the Paola Community Center Board of Directors, Paola Country Club Board of Directors, Miami County Bar Association (past president), Paola Chamber of Commerce (past president), Paola Rotary Club, Kansas Bar Association Annual CLE Committee, Lakemary Ladies Night Fundraising Committee, Paola Free Library Board, and she is extremely active in her daughter’s school.
Amy’s practice includes many areas of law. She acts as a guardian ad litem in domestic cases, serving as the attorney for minor children in their parent’s custodial disputes; she serves as a parent’s attorneys and children’s attorneys in Child in Need of Care Cases; she handles landlord tenant matters; guardianship and conservatorship matters; adoptions; probate cases; estate planning including the preparation of wills, trusts, and power of attorneys; contract review, negotiation, and drafting; real estate matters; quiet titles; civil cases; business entities and LLCs; as well as many other matters.
